Dr Marius Kaupas, BSc (Hons), BDS, MSc, PGDip (Implant Dentistry) - Principal Dental Surgeon, GDC No 209741

Dr Kaupas joined the practice in 2011 and subsequently became the Principal Dental Surgeon in 2016. After working both for the NHS and privately for over 10 years, his practice is currently limited mainly to private general dentistry, with a special interest in minor oral surgery and dental implantology, reconstructive and cosmetic dentistry and providing treatment to anxious patients requiring intravenous and inhalation sedation. Initially, Dr Kaupas graduated with a first class honours degree in Psychology from Lancaster University (1997), winning several University awards for his academic and research achievements. He then applied for a graduate-entry programme at Liverpool University to become a dental surgeon and in 2011 qualified with a Bachelor Degree in Dental Surgery, winning the University Prize in Restorative Dentistry for the best case report in his final year. He then completed a further 3-year training, achieving an MSc Degree with Distinction in Primary Dental Care at the University of Kent (2014). In 2016, Dr Kaupas started and successfully completed a 2-year surgical and academic training program in dental implantology achieving a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction in Dental Implantology (Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology, Cambridge). He also undertook further surgical training in sinus augmentation surgery, guided bone regeneration surgery procedures, intravenous and inhalation sedation techniques, and application of platelet-rich plasma and platelet-rich fibrin (PRP and PRF) in oral surgery. In addition, Dr Kaupas has dedicated hundreds of hours to attend various other courses both locally and nationally in order to advance his knowledge and skills in the art and science of dental surgery. Dr Kaupas has been involved in the research, development and application of 3D scanning and printing technologies at his practice. Under his lead, since 2012, Lavender Dental Care was one of the pioneering practices in the country to successfully adopt and integrate cutting-edge in-house 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies in daily clinical practice to assist in dental implantology and oral surgery cases, cosmetic dentistry, and in diagnostic and preventative procedures. Dr Kaupas, together with Dr Ravindran, have been appointed by the NHS Health Education England as Educational Supervisors for Foundation Dentists. At Lavender Dental Care, Dr Kaupas has been providing training and supervision to recently qualified UK dentists since 2015. Selection process for such training practices is vigorous and their performance undergoes stringent yearly reviews. Selected training practices must demonstrate they have highly experienced dental teams, extensive clinical experience of the Educational Supervisors, high clinical standards and good ethical values. Such training has been provided at the practice continuously for over 15 years. In his free time, Dr Kaupas enjoys spending time with his family and two young children. He loves traveling, reading, and is passionate about photography, fine art and has been a keen violin and piano player since he was a child.

Dr Daniel Thayanandan, BSc (Hons), BDS, Pg Cert - Dental Surgeon. GDC No 271902

Daniel has joined the practice in September 2017. He graduated from Guys and St Thomas’ King’s College London with several honours in restorative and prosthodontic areas of dentistry. He also has achieved a Bachelor’s of Science degree with Honours in Neuroscience and Neuropsychology at Kings College London. Daniel has completed his foundation year certificate, MJDF examination and achieved a post-graduate certificate in Primary Dental Care. He is currently undergoing further training in oral surgery at University of Cental Lancashire. Daniel is passionate about addressing patient’s concerns and comfort whilst providing an attentive, holistic and comprehensive approach to dental care. He has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and oral surgery. An avid Liverpool supporter, he loves to play football regularly, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

Dr Rakshini Ravindran, BDS, PG Dip, MJDF - Dental Surgeon. GDC No 251895

Rakshini joined Lavender Dental Care in 2014 as a foundation dentist. After completing her foundation year, she continued to work as an associate at the practice part time until 2018 from which her associate role became full time. Rakshini completed a post graduate diploma in primary dental care in 2016 and is also a certified Invisalign Go and Go Plus provider.
Rakshini has also undergone the necessary courses to provide patients with composite bonding and facial aesthetics to include anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. As of 2020, Rakshini has become a joint foundation dental trainer alongside Dr Marius Kaupas.
Rakshini is keen to focus on improving the dental health of her patients and on providing dental care, which is in the best interests of her patients. She is approachable and caring, and has great rapport with patients and colleagues.
Rakshini will continue to improve her skills and education within cosmetic dentistry.

Dr Kiran Sookarry, BDS - Foundation Dentist. GDC No 290550

Kiran graduated from University of Sheffield in Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Prior to this, he attended Dartford Grammar School where he completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Kiran is devoted to providing patients with comfort and holistic dental care, adopting a friendly and thorough approach. His particular areas of interest include composite restorations, oral surgery and working with anxious patients. Outside of practice, he enjoys home fitness, travelling and reading, as well as spending time with friends and family. "My ethos in dentistry is to provide evidence- based restorative treatment in a minimal invasive approach, whilst maintaining good holistic patient care. I strongly believe in transparent and honest communication to create an optimal patient journey which can be reflected from my patient reviews. For every patient visit, I aim to provide value; ensuring they leave happier with better oral health and knowledge"

Ms Catherine Swindlehurst - Dental Therapist and Hygienist. GDC No 242966

Catherine began her dental career as a Dental Nurse and achieved a National Diploma in Dental Nursing in 2013. She particularly enjoyed assisting her colleagues on primary school visits where her passion for oral health education began. In July 2017, Catherine qualified as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist from Kings College, London with distinctions in modules including Dental Public Health. She has a continued passion for educating children in how to maintain a healthy mouth and with her dual qualification can carry out treatments including placing fissure sealants as well as dental restorations. Catherine also has a passion in treating patients with severe gum disease, helping them keep their teeth for longer, through treatment in the surgery and through motivating her patients to improve their oral hygiene. Outside work, Catherine enjoys sports such as swimming and golf and loves home baking.

Miss Gemma Bugg - Practice Manager. GDC No 136950

Gemma is a qualified dental nurse. She gained the National Certificate in Dental Nursing in November 2007 and became Practice Manager in 2009. She now oversees the day to day running of Lavender Dental Care. Alongside Verity, Gemma runs a dental nurses' training course at Lavender Training Centre which is an accredited training course for trainee dental nurses to prepare them for their National Diploma Examinations. Gemma is also a trained Covid-19 Vaccinator and is working within the Kent NHS Community Trust to help deliver the vaccinations to the Kent population. When Gemma isn’t working, she is a keen horse rider and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs Verity Palmer - Principal Dental Nurse and Clinical Practice Manager. GDC No 111124

Verity is the principal dental nurse and clinical manager. She joined the practice in 2001. Verity gained a National Certificate in Dental Nursing in May 2005. Verity has an interest in implant dental nursing and is currently completing her formal training in Conscious Sedation. She is working closely with our dental implantology and conscious sedation teams to help patients undergoing oral surgery, dental implants and other more complex treatments and procedures. Alongside Gemma, Verity has been running a training course for aspiring trainee dental nurses preparing for National Board Examinations. Outside work, Verity enjoys spending time with her family.

Miss Sarah Mann - Oral Health Educator, Qualified Dental Nurse. GDC No 225219

Sarah started out in dentistry in 2007 as a Dental Receptionist. She then trained and became a qualified dental nurse in 2011. Later, she completed further education in Oral Health Education, fluoride application and in other areas of dentistry. Sarah's current role at Lavender Dental Care is Head Dental Nurse and she occasionally works as a receptionist. Sarah continues her further education and is currently training to become a qualified Sedation Nurse. She works closely with our dental implantology and conscious sedation teams and particularly enjoys assisting in more complex dental implant, surgical and cosmetic cases involving modern technologies such as virtual treatment planning, 3D scanning and 3D printing. She also enjoys assisting in cases requiring application of plasma-rich fibrin therapy to patients undergoing various surgical procedures. Sarah is also a trained Covid-19 Vaccinator and is working within the Kent NHS Community Trust to help deliver the vaccinations to the Kent population. In addition to working at Lavender Dental Care, Sarah also works at Dentaline providing emergency out of hours services to patients. Outside of dentistry, Sarah's hobbies include walking her two mini-Schnauzers and spending time with her family.

Miss Leah Burton - Qualified Dental Nurse. GDC No 276068

Leah Burton trained for the National Diploma for dental nurses in 2016 and successfully qualified in 2017. Leah enjoys working at Lavender Dental Care and is passionate about all aspects of dentistry, particularly oral surgery. In her spare time, Leah enjoys socialising with friends and family.

Miss Katie Helene - Qualified Dental Nurse. GDC No 295199

Katie started working and training at Lavender Dental Care in 2019, and became a fully qualified dental nurse in 2021, having successfully passed NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing. Katie particularly enjoys the cosmetic aspect of dentistry and seeing the difference in people’s confidence with their new smiles. Katie aspires to continue her training in this area. In her spare time, Katie enjoys poetry, art and old-school music.

Miss Alice Flight - Qualified Dental Nurse. GDC No 282696

Alice joined Lavender Dental Care as a trainee in 2017, and became a fully qualified dental nurse in 2019, having successfully passed NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing. She is now progressing in her dental career training in conscious sedation for dental nurses. Alice’s particular areas of interest include cosmetic dentistry and working with anxious patients. Alice has an interest in Jukebox fairs/music, classic cars and vintage fashion.

Miss Daisy Doe - Qualified Dental Nurse. GDC No 282721

Daisy joined Lavender Dental Care in 2017 and became a qualified dental nurse in 2019 after successfully passing the NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing.

Mrs Rachel Campbell - Receptionist

Rachel has been working as a dental receptionist at Lavender Dental Care since 2009. "I first worked as a dental receptionist in 1983, before leaving to bring up two monsters, sorry, children. I then came back to dentistry as an assistant to the regional dental officer, covering the south east. I joined Lavender Dental Care in September 2009 and haven't looked back! I enjoy the varied work and love the interaction I have with patients. I'm known as the loud one with red hair!"

Miss Hayley Breach - Qualified Dental Nurse. GDC No 294760

Hayley joined our team at Lavender Dental Care in 2020 and became a fully qualified dental nurse in 2021, having passed the National Diploma in Dental Nursing examinations. "I really enjoy my job and my favourite area is cosmetic dentistry".
