TEAM MEMBERS
Dr Kaupas joined the practice in 2011 and became the Principal Dental Surgeon in 2016. After working both for the NHS and privately for over 10 years, his practice is now limited mainly to private general dentistry, with a special interest in dental implantology and reconstructive dentistry.
Initially, Dr Kaupas graduated with a first class honours degree in Psychology from Lancaster University (1997), winning several University awards for his academic and research achievements. He then applied for a graduate-entry programme at Liverpool University to become a dental surgeon and in 2011 qualified with a Bachelor Degree in Dental Surgery, winning the University Prize in Restorative Dentistry for the best case report in his final year. To further his training, he completed a three-year programme, earning an MSc Degree (with Distinction) in Primary Dental Care from the University of Kent in 2014.
In 2016, Dr Kaupas started and completed a 2-year surgical and academic training program in dental implantology, achieving a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction (Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology, Cambridge). He further developed his surgical skills in dental implantology and underwent additional training in sinus augmentation, guided bone regeneration and soft tissue grafting and transplantation techniques, and full arch implant dentistry. Dr Kaupas also provides conscious sedation (both intravenous and inhalation sedation) to anxious patients or those undergoing more advanced or longer surgical or restorative treatments.
Under his leadership, in 2016 Lavender Dental Care became one of the pioneering practices in the country to successfully adopt, develop, and integrate cutting-edge 3D scanning and in-house printing technology into their daily clinical practice. The use of this technology has had a very positive impact on improving treatment outcomes for patients, by enhancing precision and accuracy during implant surgery, and by facilitating digital treatment planning for more complex dental reconstruction procedures.
Dr. Kaupas has been appointed by NHS Health Education England as an Educational Supervisor for Foundation Dentists. At Lavender Dental Care, Dr. Kaupas has been providing support and training to recently qualified UK dentists since 2015. The selection process for such training practices is rigorous, and their performance undergoes stringent yearly reviews. Selected training practices must demonstrate that they have highly experienced dental teams, high clinical standards, and good ethical values.
In his free time, Dr Kaupas enjoys spending time with his family and two young children playing chess and other board games, traveling, reading, and he also loves playing violin and piano.
